- I place .biotech in the 30-49 band (usable but limited). The string names a large, well-funded industry, and by analogy with other industry-descriptive TLDs there is plausible steady registration demand from startups, labs, and service firms, plus defensive registrations from established players. It is not in the 50-69 band because, reasoning from analogy, the same buyer already has shorter competing options — .com remains the sector default for credibility with investors and regulators, and the shorter .bio (an existing TLD, cited as analogy) covers the identical audience with fewer characters — so genuine sustained primary-identity use on .biotech would need explaining and the aftermarket is likely thin.
