.acg
Is .acg a real TLD? Who’s applying to run it?
Nobody has applied for .acg in its own right, as of 7 October 2026. Juming named .acg as the replacement string of its .ddd application.
A fandom label (anime, comics, games) that East Asian fan communities recognize, but too narrow and regional to carry broad demand.
anime, comics and games fan sites, fan-art and doujin creators, and hobby communities, mostly in Chinese- and Japanese-speaking markets
No applications recorded for this TLD yet.
The 2012 applications making the most similar bet. Chosen by AI from every string in that round, without being told what happened to any of them.
Same bet: a short insider initialism for an enthusiast subculture rather than a company or a plain-English category, sold to the scene's own media, communities and fan businesses, and it only works if the acronym is self-evident to everyone inside that scene while meaning nothing outside it.
Same bet that a culture's own name for itself can carry primary identity for creators, fan media and scene commerce — differs in that it is a spelled-out subculture name with mainstream recognition, where .acg stakes the same ground on a coded abbreviation.
Also an acronym a community itself invented and uses as its label, bet on in-group legibility rather than dictionary meaning; the divergence is that its buyers put identity and advocacy on it, while .acg's would put taste and fandom on it.
What a .acg domain is
.acg is not a TLD yet. It is a string on our record of the ICANN 2026 new gTLD round, filed under Culture. Nobody has applied for .acg in its own right. It is named on ICANN’s list as part of an application for another string.
Is the .acg domain extension real yet?
.acg is not yet a domain extension you can register: nothing resolves under it, and no registrar sells names in it. Nobody has applied for it on the public record; the ICANN 2026 new gTLD round is the process that would decide whether it becomes one.
When can you buy a .acg domain?
You can’t yet. ICANN publishes every applied-for string on Reveal Day, 7 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC. A .acg name can only be registered after that, once the string is delegated and its registry opens. Last round's closest parallel to .acg was .mma, delegated on 31 March 2015.
Is .acg a real TLD?
Not yet. .acg is not in the DNS root, so nothing resolves under it. It’s here because ICANN’s list names .acg as part of an application for another string. Every entry on this page links to its source.

- Band chosen: 10-29 (vanity/narrow). ACG is an established shorthand for anime, comics and games, used mainly in Chinese-speaking and, to a lesser extent, Japanese fan communities; it names a real, durable subculture rather than a passing event. It is not in the 30-49 band because the string is an acronym whose meaning is largely confined to one regional fandom, which caps volume registrations and leaves it as a secondary or hobby identity rather than a primary one for serious projects; by analogy (flagged as analogy), community-flavored TLDs aimed at the same audience have shown sustained but small, hobbyist-led registration bases without a meaningful aftermarket, and I would expect .acg to follow that pattern. It is not in the 1-9 band because a recognizable community exists and a fan site, convention, or creator group could credibly adopt it as an identity. On the record, one applicant (TechEdge Limited) is listed, with the string recorded as a replacement for a .ddd application; contention count on the record is 0. Specific registration figures for analogous TLDs are unknown to me within the rules here, so the volume judgment is qualitative. Main market uncertainty: whether sites in mainland China, the largest natural audience for the term, can practically operate on this TLD given the local approval regime for new TLDs, and whether the acronym carries any weight with Western fandoms at all; a yes on the former would move this toward the 30-49 band.
