# Namedesk API

Two APIs on one host, `https://api.namedesk.app`.

| | Appraisal API | Stats API |
|---|---|---|
| What it returns | A full appraisal of a domain name: price band, verdict, the AI signals, the comparable sales | Domain industry statistics: TLDs, registry operators and registrars month by month, launch phases, nightly zone counts |
| Access | An API key, from Settings → API keys | None. No key, no account |
| Cost | Credits from your wallet, 10 per full read | Free |
| Path | `/v1/research-jobs`, `/v1/report/{domain}` | `/v1/stats/...` |

Both return JSON, use the same error shape, and are described in one [OpenAPI document](https://namedesk.app/openapi.json).

## First call

```bash
# Stats: no key
curl https://api.namedesk.app/v1/stats/tlds/xyz
# Appraisal: with a key
curl -X POST https://api.namedesk.app/v1/research-jobs \
  -H "x-api-key: $ND_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"domains": ["stripe.com"]}'
```

## Keys

Create a key in [Settings → API keys](https://namedesk.app/settings/api-keys). The full key is shown once. Send it as `x-api-key` or as `Authorization: Bearer`. A key belongs to your organisation and keeps working when the person who made it leaves.

On the Stats API a key is optional. Sending one raises the request limit; it never costs credits.
